It takes an army to run events as frequently as we do, from coordination and planning, to showing up on the day and talking to prospective adopters, this is one of the most important ways of getting SOFA out there to the general public!
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a large part of our funding comes from Grants. We are always in need of volunteers to find and research grants and even assist in the completion of the grant application proccess. This is critical to the funding of our organization, so please contact us if you want to help!
To ensure all our pets go to appropriate homes, our screening process assigns an Adoption Counselor to each adopter, from the initial screening phone call / interaction to adopting out the pet, including home checks and check-ins during our trial run period.
We get donations fairly regularly from local businesses and individuals, ever fulfilling our needs lists. We often need help assigning locations for those donations and making sure they are accessible and well organized. We also get donations for our annual silent auction which need to be cataloged and stored appropriately before the event.
